A Rising North Star

After an impressive 2023-24 season, the Timberwolves have made it to the Western Conference finals for the first time in 20 years! An incredible run in part due to their young defensive stars, the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year Naz Reid, and a rising superstar in Anthony Edwards.

This season Edwards has emerged as a dominant offensive force. He has averaged 26 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game, highlighting his scoring versatility. Edwards’ ability to score from all three levels—beyond the arc, mid-range, and at the rim—has made him a nightmare for defenders.

In addition to his accomplishments on the basketball court, Edwards has ventured into the world of acting, highlighting his versatility and charisma beyond sports. In 2022, he made his acting debut in the sports drama film “Hustle,” produced by NBA superstar LeBron James and starring Adam Sandler. Edwards played a pivotal role as the film’s antagonist, portraying a young, talented basketball player with a compelling backstory and a bright future ahead. Edwards’ performance in “Hustle” received praise for its genuine portrayal and the ease with which he adapted to acting.

Edwards’ outstanding performance this season has garnered league-wide praise. He has been selected to his second NBA All-Star Game, as one of the league’s elite players. Earning his first All-NBA Second Team honors, “Ant” put up a career-high 51 points in an April win over the Washington Wizards.

The Timberwolves have faced an uphill battle as Minnesota tries to win their first title in any of the four major men’s sports since 1991! The team swept the Phoenix Suns, and then won a back-and-forth slugfest against the reigning NBA champion Denver Nuggets. Edwards was by far our #1 seller for the month of May – largely because of his 26 points, 6 assists, and 6 rebound averages for the playoffs so far. He is joined by Kobe Bryant as the only two players with consecutive 40-point games at age 22 or younger in NBA postseason history.

Ant’s accolades are stacking up as he was also the NBA Dunk of the Year, Block of the Year, Photo of the Year winner as voted by the fans and remains one of the most viewed social media players throughout the playoffs. He will be competing as a part of Team USA at this year’s Olympics in Paris, likely against his fellow Minnesota teammate Rudy Gobert. Can the Timberwolves break through in the Conference Finals or will Minnesota be left waiting for next year?
