With the 2018 MLB season coming to a close, now is the time to look back and reflect on the accomplishments of these five players who are quickly becoming household names. For some, the dream of the post season is still alive, while others will potentially be snubbed for awards they should win. Yeah, we’ll say it: Blake Snell for American League Cy Young! Regardless, these players made an immediate impact to their respective teams, and as a result their card values and desirability has risen tremendously.

This time around we’re highlighting a unique group of players under the age of 30 who are all experiencing different trajectories of their careers. Each of these players came into the league with high exceptions, and while some have performed better out of the gate than others, we still have faith that the others will come around. While Alex Bregman and Trevor Story cards are reaching new heights almost daily, there is still plenty of room for growth. On the other hand, cards from players such as Byron Buxton and Amed Rosario remain largely undervalued, and could see huge growth if these players can live up to their expected potentials.

We’re just a couple weeks removed from the 2018 MLB All Star Game. As you may or may not know, the All Star Game’s participants are decided by fan vote for position players and player vote for pitchers. This means that many deserving candidates can be overlooked in favor of more popular players (as if Bryce Harper wasn’t going to be a starter in an All-Star Game held in Washington D.C.).  This time around we’re looking at four All-Stars that fans chose to be a part of this year’s festivities, and one player who came up a little bit short to the Mariners’s Shortstop Jean Segura’s #SendSegura campaign in the fan vote for the final spot.

In this edition of #CardSTOCK , we’ve got five of the game’s youngest and most flat out fun players to watch play the game. All of these players are under the age of 22 (and only 19(!!!) in the case of Juan Soto), and are already contributing to their respective organizations in a big way. Let’s take a look at what each of these five have done through the first three months of the season:

Ronald Acuna: Sidelined by injury, but provided a major spark to the Brave’s early season including 5 home runs in 117 at bats before being sidelined to injury. Will be a catalyst in helping push the Braves towards the postseason down the stretch.

Rafael Devers: Holding his own in an absolutely stacked Red Sox lineup. His infectious smile is making him a fan favorite among the Boston faithful.

Gleyber Torres: Doing it all under the bright lights of Yankees Stadium. Launching bombs and hitting for average as a welcome addition to the Baby Bombers. Earned his first All-Star nod in 2018, but missed the game due to injury.

Eloy Jimenez: The #4 overall prospect in baseball (rated by Baseball America) is making waves in Triple A. His impending arrival to the White Sox will be another weapon for a young team on the rise.

Juan Soto: When you’re breaking records set by Bryce Harper for the Nationals, you’re doing something right. Hitting for average and power while maintaining a close to 1:1 ratio in walks to strikeouts. All under the age of 20. Whew.

This time around, we’re taking a look at the players that appear on the line up card daily, but their popularity is often overshadowed by bigger name stars on their respective teams. These are the players who’s consistent and above average play on the field often does not translate to the same amount of love in the hobby that their more popular counterparts receive. Or perhaps they play in a smaller market, where they are beloved locally, but fail to register in the national spotlight until they’re helping their team defeat your favorite team.

We’re showing plenty of love for these six unsung heroes, and we think that you should too!

In this edition of #CardSTOCK , we’re looking at six players who’s names are universally recognized. Of these six players, four were pillars of sports card collecting in the 90’s and into the 00’s, while two of these players carried that torch forward after their debut in 2001. Love them or hate them, this group of Hall of Fame talent have earned their respective statuses in the hobby.

These players are favorites among collectors and already command top dollar in the market. Whether it be through stellar play to start their 2018 campaign or they’re simply a big name bat in a big town, you can’t deny these players potential both on the field and in the hobby. We’re a few weeks into the season and players are just starting to find their in the grind that is a the 162 game major league season. Batting averages are still a little wonky, and ERA’s are all of the place, but the perennial all-stars are once again beginning to separate themselves  from the crowd. In Volume 4 of #Cardstock , Steuber goes around the infield diamond by highlighting a player at each position that are worthy of your investment.

This time around, Chris showcases seven prized prospects who have generated huge buzz within the hobby through phenomenal performance internationally, in the lower minor league levels, and in spring training. A couple of these prized prospects have already made a splash at the major league level, while others are waiting in the wings for their chance to shine on baseball’s grandest stage.
