Join us at the Sportcard and Memorabilia Expo in Mississauga

The Sportcard & Memorabilia Expo in Mississauga is just around the corner, and we are excited to have a place at the largest hockey card trade show in the world.  COMC will once again be there to accept submissions to save consignors on shipping, offering free giveaways (while supplies last), and answering any questions you may have.  The show, which is running from November 6th through the 8th, is special on a number of different fronts.

What makes this Fall Expo special?

Firstly, this show has been going for 25 years and the Fall Expo marks the 50th show;

Secondly, the 2015 Hockey Hall of Fame induction class of Nicklas Lidstrom, Chris Pronger, & Phil Housley will be present as autograph guests;

Thirdly, the show is the launchpad for the release of 2015-16 Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey and the first live card of Connor McDavid in an Edmonton Oilers uniform. The hype surrounding Connor McDavid has not been seen since 2005-06 with Sidney Crosby, and COMC would like to help connect people who may be fortunate enough to have his card with those who are seeking to own his card.

To this end, we are offering free premium processing for all Connor McDavid cards featured in an Edmonton Oilers uniform from November 5th (projected release date of 2015-16 Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey) through December 31, 2015 (postmarked). This includes redemption cards in 2015-16 MVP Hockey, 2015-16 Artifacts Hockey, and 2015-16 Upper Deck Tim Hortons which trade one for one for a Connor McDavid card, but excludes the 2015-16 MVP Pacific Division.

To make sure your order is processed free of charge, make sure to use the submission wizard from your COMC account to choose this option. As with all premium processing, there is no upgrade fee.  Mailbox submissions or Connor McDavid cards not in an Oilers uniform do not qualify.

Black Friday Submission Reminder

With fall starting tomorrow, we wanted to remind you that the deadline for sending in cards to guarantee they are up by Black Friday is drawing near. To ensure your cards are in your account by the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, please make sure your submissions arrive by the following dates:

  • Basic: September 30th – just a week and a day away!
  • Select: Wednesday, November 11th – same rate and price as last year’s special, but without the restrictions!
  • Premium: Friday, November 20th – for the buzzer beaters!

Yesterday our team landed, set up our booth, and have already been meeting and greeting the fine people who consider themselves part of COMC Nation. We know we will continue to have many great conversations over the next few days with people attending the National. But we cannot have and provide the best National experience without your help.

While Geoff, Jim, Grant, and Steve spend some of the day roaming and reaching out to those at the show, we ask that you stop by booth 648 to talk and chat with us as well. At the booth, you can also schedule time to meet with Tim. You can also get this scheduled by emailing us at timewithtim@comc.com.

So stop by, drop off cards you wish to consign, and pick up a COMC Scratch Card Redemption. The prizes range from $3 off of shipping or $5, $10, $50, or even $100 of store credit. All scratch tickets at the National are guaranteed winners, and can be used on our new COMC Redemption page.

For those who are not attending the National, you will not be left out. Along with the National Processing Special which runs until the end of August, all Standard orders placed on our site, starting August 1st, will have a COMC Scratch Card Redemption included in the order. This will be added to the first 10,000 orders made. While these will not all be winners, it is easy to get another chance to win – place an additional order!

COMC National Special

Hello COMC Nation!

The National Sports Collectors Convention is right around the corner, so we know you all have been waiting with anticipation. As is our time honored tradition, the National brings with it a COMC Promotion, generally one with a repeating number theme. This year is no exception.

There is no need to wait any longer. Now that the details have all been hammered out, we’re ready to share them with you! We wanted to do something special for all of the people who use our site – our buyers and sellers. We’ve found that one great way to make buyers happy is to provide the best selection of items. And one great way to make sellers happy is to provide them with happy buyers.

So this year we’re trying something new. At the National we are going to be handing out coupons with scratch tickets with prizes ranging from $3 off shipping, to $5 or $10 of COMC store credit.

Some coupons will even have a secret multiplier to add even more credit to the account when redeemed. For those who can’t make it to the National, don’t worry because we will be adding these coupons to the first 10,000 packages we ship out starting August 1st.

And to make sure that buyers have the best selection of cards to choose from, we’re offering a National Processing Special. Instead of dropping out the floor of our Basic processing service, we’re offering a service to help get better cards up sooner.

Orders mailed in must be postmarked by August 31st.

Limit ONE 300 count box per person.

Single row, no jammed in minis, nothing in the sides or laid on top.

These cards will be processed with a 3 week due date.

Items sent in using the National Special will not be subject to the $0.50 Item Upgrade fees for pricing a card over $50.

There will be a $3 minimum charge for the National Special. This will be charged if you send ten or fewer cards.

Packages that are sent in for the National Special, but do not meet these guidelines, will be processed at our Basic service level.

For those of you who will be in Chicago for the National, you can drop your cards off at the COMC Booth to avoid any of those extra shipping costs. We’ll be booth 648. Our friends in Canada can also take advantage of this special by sending their submissions to our office in Burnaby.

We have updated the following information in the post above.

You can start submitting items for the National Special – the submission wizard has been updated.

There is a minimum batch size of 10 cards for the National Special. Batches of 10 or fewer cards will be charged $3.

We have clarified that items submitted with the National Special will not have the $0.50 item upgrade if priced above $50.
