COMC Hot List: August 24 – September 4

Hello COMC Nation! It’s Wednesday, the middle of the week, “hump day” (if you will) and you know what that means. It’s the day you’ve been waiting for…no, not Jim McMahon’s birthday (although we were always big fans of the sweatbands). I mean, it’s time for a new COMC Hot List.

While everyone else was watching the baseball playoff races develop or taking the football preseason a little too seriously, our dedicated team of card experts has been putting together the latest Hot List – figuring out who’s the hottest of the hot, and determining the sets people will be collecting over the next 2 weeks. This is what we’ve come up with – the COMC Hot List for August 21th to September 4th:

Sonny Gray

The Hot List Theme

As we mentioned earlier, the football preseason is in full swing, so to celebrate the loss of national productivity on Sundays over the next few months, we’re going to add 2013 football RC’s to the Hot List: any NFL player whose Rookie Card is part of a 2013 football set is eligible for the current Hot List.

So what does being on the Hot List mean?

COMC wants to encourage our users to get these hot cards into your accounts to offer for sale as quickly as possible, so starting today, any cards submitted for the Hot List will qualify for our “Hot List Special” processing. With this service, you will receive One Day processing at the special Hot List price: $0.50 per raw card and $1.00 per graded, encased, or jumbo card.

Xander Bogaerts

  • Clearly write “Hot List Special” on the outer mailing package and/or the address label.
  • $5 minimum batch fee (We recommend submitting 10+ items.)
  • 200 item maximum per week
  • Must be postmarked by September 4th, 2013
  • Can be mailed to either our US or Canadian office
  • Any submissions received on a Friday or Saturday may not be processed until the following Monday.
  • Submissions with non-Hot List items mixed in will be downgraded to One Week service.
  • Redemption cards may qualify for Hot List pricing, but will take up to a week to process.

You’re welcome to submit Hot List batches at the same time that you submit other batches with different service levels, even if they’re mailed in the same package, but please make sure that each batch is clearly separated and labeled, and that “Hot List Special” is written on the outside of the mailing package and/or mailing label.

Thanks for your input for this new Hot List! Be sure to watch our FacebookTwitter, and Google+ pages for the next Hot List Call Out in a week!

Buyers: New Shipping Credit

Hello to the COMC Nation!

We’ve been giving our sellers some love lately with The National special we’re currently running.  You have just a couple more days to take advantage of it, so send your submissions in ASAP!  Items must be postmarked by August 22nd.

Buyers, we have not forgotten you…

…Check out our new Store Credit program for buying in bulk on COMC.com!

It works like this:

For every 100 items a buyer has shipped from COMC.com within a calendar month, s/he will receive $5.00 in COMC Store Credit. And, the benefits add up.

  • Ship 100 cards = $5.00 COMC Store Credit
  • Ship 200 cards = $10.00 COMC Store Credit
  • Ship 300 cards = $15.00 COMC Store Credit…and so on, and so on…

On the first of every month, every account that qualifies will receive the Shipping Credit automatically. We actually started this program on August 1st, so you may have already noticed this Store Credit in your account for cards you had shipped during the month of July.

We always appreciate your input and feedback, as many of our new features come from the COMC Nation. Please feel free to leave any suggestions or ideas in the comments below.  As always, we ask that you stay tuned to our blog and be sure to join us on FacebookTwitter, and Google+.

Don’t Miss Out on The National Special!

Happy Friday COMC Nation!  This week has truly been a photo finish kind of week as the Team returned from Rosemont.  Before heading into a very well deserved weekend, we wanted to take a moment to remind everyone to take advantage of the National Special before it’s gone for another year.  To recap, it is:

National $70 Flat Rate Special

  • Limit 1 660ct box per person
  • Single row, no jammed in minis
  • If you don’t have a 660ct box, please measure no more than 11.75″ of cards
  • These cards will be processed at a 6 Week Processing speed
  • All submissions must be postmarked by August 22nd

Don’t Forget Canada

Also, we wanted to remind all our friends in Canada that they can send their submissions to our Canadian Warehouse and save both time and money on the shipping.  If you haven’t ever tried out this service, please send your items to:

COMC Consignment
4311 Canada Way
Burnaby BC  V5G 1J3

All submissions must be postmarked by no later than August 22nd whether they are heading to our US or Canadian locations.  This kind of a special only comes around once a year, so don’t miss out on getting a deal that brings the average submission price down to $.11 per card.  Have a great weekend and be on the lookout next week for some stories from the National.  Be sure to also keep up with us on our FacebookTwitter, and Google+ pages.

COMC Hot List – August 8 to August 21

Hello COMC Nation! We hope everyone survived the National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago. The COMC team made it back home safely late Sunday night, and we’re hitting the ground running. They say there’s no rest for the wicked (not that we’re wicked people, mind you) but we’re not slowing down.

While the road crew has been recovering from their deep dish pizza hangovers, the rest of us have been working on putting together the latest Hot List – looking at who’s the hottest of the hot, and what sets are the sets people will be collecting over the next two weeks. After some research and discussion, this is what we’ve come up with – the COMC Hot List for August 8th to August 21th:

Junior Lake

The Hot List Theme

To celebrate our safe return from the 34th Annual National Sports Collectors Convention, we’re accepting any National promo cards that were made available to the attendees in Chicago.

How to Submit Hot List Items for Consignment:

  • Clearly write “Hot List Special” on the outer mailing package and/or the address label.

Vault Questions

As we announced on Wednesday, the COMC Vault is now open for business!  Because the Vault is brand new, some questions have come up, so we wanted to take a moment to address them.

The Vault is supposed to be for high-end, so why do I see items listed at $40.00?

The $40 is the cut-off point that allows us to offer a lower consignment fee to our sellers. While The Vault is generally geared towards items valued at $100+, we want to give our sellers the opportunity to try it out with some of their mid-range items and take advantage of the lower fee structure.

In many cases, items are offered at a lower price on The Vault than on COMC because of the reduced commission fees. If you wish to search for higher-priced cards only, use the dropdown menu on the left-hand side of the Search Results page to display items in various price ranges.

The Vault seems like a separate site from COMC. Why doesn’t one site direct users to the other for more search results?

At the moment, COMC and The Vault are being treated as two separate websites.  As we wanted to release The Vault in time for The National, we haven’t implemented all of the features that we have planned for the site. We will be adding many, many more features in the coming weeks and your feedback helps us prioritize which features we do next.

Can Vault Credit be used on COMC.com? *or* Can COMC Credit be used on The Vault?

When an item sells on The Vault, the seller receives a deposit into their Vault account for the sale price less fees. That balance can be used toward items in The Vault or cashed out in full. We are currently considering ways to support the transfer of Vault Credit to COMC, and vice versa.

If I run a COMC Sale Promotion will that affect the Vault eligibility of my items?

No, these items will remain Vault Eligible. COMC Sale Promotions only affect the price of the item on COMC and do not affect Vault list prices. Sale prices are momentarily only viewable on COMC.com.

Thanks for the great questions and suggestions that you’ve sent us so far. Please continue to share your thoughts and questions regarding the Vault, or any of our other services here on our blog, and be sure to check us out on FacebookTwitter, and Google+.

The Vault has Launched at The National!

Hello folks, and welcome from the 34th Annual National Sports Collectors Convention in Rosemont, Illinois!  As many of you know, the first day of the National has coincided with the official launch of The Vault.  Not only have items begun to sell on The Vault online, they have begun selling offline at the show via our showroom cases!

As a reminder, there are several reasons this new service is an amazing opportunity to display and sell high end items:

  • Only 10% commission on all items sold
  • High quality 36x zoom scans of front and back of each item
  • Items may be showcased at some of the most prestigious shows in the country
  • Additional payment options (e.g. wire transfer)
  • It is the safe and easy way to buy and sell high end collectibles

Within the first hour of the launch, 10 cards had already sold, and sales continued throughout the afternoon.  If you haven’t had an opportunity to see the Vault yet, take a look at vault.comc.com!

COMCs First Day at the National: The Recap

We spent a majority of our day getting the booth up and running and all your Vault items set into the cases.  With thousands of vendors preparing in much the same fashion, it was truly remarkable sight.

For those of you who have not been to the Donald E. Stephen’s Convention Center, it is massive.  Measuring in at 840,000 square ft. of convention space, well over half of that is being used over the course of the next few days.  And every last foot of space is devoted to cards from every sport, and of every value imaginable.

Here is a behind the scenes look at what the Convention looks like before the doors open to even the VIP pass holders.

We only had a half day on Wednesday to show things off, which means the best is yet to come, and Booth 850 is ready for the storm!  We look forward to seeing many more of you at the show and be sure to keep up with us as the National heats up on FacebookTwitter, and Google+.
