COMC Hot List: June 26th – July 10th

Hello to the COMC Nation! It’s amazing how quickly 2 weeks can go by, as we’re at that point in the calendar where we’re ready to announce a new COMC Hot List!

Our crack team of Identification Processors and Card Experts have spent the last 14 days scanning the internets and watching way too much sports-related television…well, they would be doing that, anyways – but, ultimately, it’s part of their effort to determine what players and sets would be the hottest of the hot, in order to pull together a list.

After their tireless effort, here’s what we have for the COMC Hot List, for June 26th to July 10th:

The Hot List Theme

This isn’t going to be your usual theme, as we’re going to change things up a little bit. If you’ve been following the COMC Blog, then you’ve seen us talking about The Vault, a new service for high-end collectibles that COMC is bringing online next month.

To help our sellers get the most Vault Eligible items on the site and, ultimately, to the National Sports Collectors Convention for display, we’re dedicating our Hot List Theme to The Vault. That means you can send in any Vault Eligible items you’d like to get on the site, and they’ll be processed at the regular Hot List processing prices and service.

Beginning today, any and all items placed on future Hot Lists will now be scanned at 36x resolution, thus, making all Vault Eligible items on the Hot List ready to list on both COMC and The Vault!

For an item to be Vault Eligible, it will require a minimum asking price of $40 and have a minimum $20 Beckett book value, unless it is not assigned a book value due to scarcity.

So what does being on the Hot List mean?

COMC wants to encourage our users to get these hot cards into your accounts to offer for sale as quickly as possible, so starting today, any cards submitted for the Hot List will qualify for our “Hot List Special” processing. With this service, you will receive One Day processing at the special Hot List price: $0.50 per raw card and $1.00 per graded, encased, or jumbo card.

How to Submit Hot List Items for Consignment:

  • Clearly write “Hot List Special” on the outer mailing package and/or the address label.
  • $5 minimum batch fee (We recommend submitting 10+ items.)
  • 200 item maximum per week
  • Must be postmarked by July 10th, 2013
  • Must be mailed to our US address (Our Canadian warehouse currently only supports One Month service.)
  • Any submissions received on a Friday or Saturday may not be processed until the following Monday.
  • Submissions with non-Hot List items mixed in will be downgraded to One Week service.

You’re welcome to submit Hot List batches at the same time that you submit other batches with different service levels, even if they’re mailed in the same package, but please make sure that each batch is clearly separated and labeled, and that “Hot List Special” is written on the outside of the mailing package and/or mailing label.

Thanks for your input for this new Hot List, and watch our FacebookTwitter, and new Google+ pages for the call for the next Hot List in a week!

  1. How did the Bowman Blue Wave cards not make the hot list and can this be reconsidered?

    • Hi! There’s a few sets/players that got left off the list this time around, as the Vault really took the focus for this Hot List. But we’ll fix that with the next List. Thanks for telling us and I’m pretty sure the Blue Waves will be List-eligible on July 10th!

  2. Hey Moe just to let you know you mis-spelt vault in one of your paragraphs it says “valut”! Just giving you a heads up! Thanks for getting my items on the site so fast! Now ill be able to get more cards graded as I sell some of my cards! Being a collector but sending my cards to your site to make some money but always put it back into the site has its benefits and other times I ask myself why did I do that but It takes $ to make $, anyways just letting you know that it’s mis-spelt so people don’t try to take advantage of you guys some how! Thanks again!! Sincerely, mark daniels

  3. Hi Mark! Thanks! You’d think that after typing “Vault” so many times, I’d know how to spell it correctly. (d’oh!)

I’d bet that there are folks who would take a typo like “Valut” and somehow try to turn it into an advantageous opportunity for themselves, but I’m pretty confident that none of them are part of the COMC Nation. Thanks again and have a great day!

  4. I’m confused a little are you saying we can send anything over $20 book value in? Also is there not going to be the $2.00 fee to put it on the vault. For example I send you a Aaron Rodgers auto (Over $20 of course) you process it for $.50, then I can put it in the vault with no other fees?

    • You should make sure you fully understand The Vault before committing to it. Be sure to check the link above to learn more about it. In your specific example The Vault will be very attractive to you.

  5. Hi cardko. I’m happy to say “Yes!” to both of your questions. You can send in anything with a book value over $20 *and* you can submit it to The Vault, with no other fees required. I hope this answers your questions. If there’s anything else, please let us know!

  6. One more question for you Moe. If I have multiple cards that I would like in the vault on comc already these need to be charged a $2.00 fee to be vault eligible correct? This being said would it not be better to have these cards shipped back to me then send them back in to save some money? Or is COMC willing to split the difference?

    • Having those cards shipped back to you may not get them to you in time to turn around and ship them back to us before the current Hot List with its Vault promotion expires. You would be better off using the first option you explained.

    • Hey cardko,

As a matter of fact, we just pushed a feature live on Friday that allows you to take your current inventory and make it Vault Eligible. Go to your Inventory Manager and, from the Actions dropdown, select Make Vault Eligible. In COMC Services, you can either get the $2 Condition Review or the Rescan for The Vault service, which is only $0.50 all next month.
