Hello, true believers! It’s Wednesday and we’re pleased to present to all our friends and fellow collectors the latest and greatest COMC Hot List!
We’ve been doing our research, as well as following your suggestions, and we’ve compiled a list of players and sets that we feel are going to be the hottest tickets for the next few weeks. Check out the list:
2013 Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers
2013 Yu-Gi-Oh: Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy
And our special Hot Theme this time around?
We’re going to make it pretty simple; with the draft behind us, and many teams running their OTAs, we decided that any 2013 Football cards would be eligible for the current Hot List.
So what does being on the Hot List mean?
COMC wants to encourage our users to get these hot cards into your accounts to offer for sale as quickly as possible, so starting today, any cards from these players or sets will qualify for our “Hot List Special” processing.
With this service, you will receive One Day processing at the special Hot List price:
$0.50 per raw card and $1.00 per graded, encased, or jumbo card.
How to Submit Hot List Items for Consignment:
Paul George
Clearly write “Hot List Special” on the outer mailing package and/or the address label.
Must be mailed to our US address (Our Canadian warehouse currently only supports One Month service.)
Any submissions received on a Friday or Saturday may not be processed until the following Monday.
Submissions with non-Hot List items mixed in will be downgraded to One Week service.
You are welcome to submit Hot List batches at the same time that you submit other batches with different service levels, even if they’re mailed in the same package, but please make sure that each batch is clearly separated and labeled, and that “Hot List Special” is written on the outside of the mailing package and/or mailing label.
Thanks for your input for this new Hot List, and watch our Facebook, Twitter, and new Google+ pages for the call for the next Hot List in a week!
COMC Hot List mid-week addition!
In light of his getting called up to “The Show” and all the awesomeness that followed (Did you see that DP throw?) we’re announcing that Yasiel Puig is part of the current Hot List.
And, no worries, we guarantee that he’ll also be a part of the next Hot List, coming out on June 12th.
We’ve never done something like this before, but a player like Puig is pretty rare, too! Get those cards in now!
We at COMC hope you all enjoyed a relaxing day of BBQ, family, and festivities on Memorial Day.
As many of you know, we began developing a new set of features to help you promote your products and sell on the site. These have been gaining popularity over the last few months and are now in daily use on the site.
These new promotion features have now made several of our older features redundant, and as such it is time to make a change. With the advent of our new Port Sale Promotions feature and the Sales feature, the Port Sale Classified Ads and the Auto Accept Classified Ads are no longer necessary.
COMC will no longer have a separate section of promotions for Auto-Accept or Port Sale Classifieds. We will require that no mention of whether or not the seller is utilizing Auto-Accept be included in the Title or Description of their advertisement.
(edit: after receiving questions and comments from our users, we wish to clarify that sellers can still post ads in the “For Sale” section of the Classified Ads to let buyers know that they will entertain offers – however, they cannot promote any “auto-accept” offers, as these cannot be monitored by COMC staff. All future ads using such language will not be accepted and store credit used for the ad will be returned to the user’s account.)
That is some change….
By having all major sales and promotions located in one central location, we believe this will eliminate instances of a buyer looking for a sale and not realizing that there were two places to look for deals. This will be better for buyers as a whole and will also minimize the cost to sellers who have, in some cases, been paying to have their sales running in two separate locations.
From those of you who have already used our new Port Sale and Sales features, we would like to hear about your experience with the service. Are there any new sales and promotion features that you think we should add to our current selection?
Please post your thoughts in the comments section below. We look forward to hearing from you folks and as always, please follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and our new Google+ page.
Bonjour, et mardi heureux chacun! This week marks the beginning of the French Open and we at COMC are preparing to watch the clay churn.
Coming from humble beginnings in 1891, The French Open is one of four Grand Slam tournaments. It is the only Grand Slam Tournament held on clay, and is generally considered to be the most physically demanding tennis tournament in the world.
As we prepare to watch these champion tennis players compete, and many of them proceed towards Wimbledon and The US Open, we wanted to show a few highlights from years past, courtesy of our users! Check out these memories captured in old Paris:
Quelle forme fine ces trois ont!
As we prepare to sip chilled wine and watch the clay dust settle, we would love to hear some of your tennis stories. Have any of you ever been to the French Open? How about any of the other Grand Slam tournaments? Please leave your stories in the comment box below. Oh, and before you say adieu, do make sure that you follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and our new Google+ page. Au revoir!
Deep in the vast treks of space known as Redmond, our crew has been diligently working to contain our excitement over the release of the Star Trek: Into Darkness film. While attending a charity auction for the Pancreatic Cancer Department of the University of Pittsburgh, our fearless leader spotted a truly special piece of tech. In true COMC fashion, Tim decided to show his Daj (Klingon for interest) by acquiring a 2010 Star Trek Remastered Original Series Autographs Leonard Nimoy card. And here he is himself, the Captain of the Starship COMC:
Captains Log, Stardate -309604.56: Mr. Spock is skirting the prime directive by visiting COMC Headquarters.
It would be illogical to not have a close up of this card
This card is now up on the site and is for sale. Feel free to swing by the Captain’s chair and check out this card. As we shift into warp speed to head to the theaters, why don’t you tell us what you thought of the new movie? And don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and our new Google+ page.
One of our top priorities at COMC is to get to know and really understand our customers. Needless to say, we were thrilled to attend Mosaiq’s talk at The Industry Summit about the results of their 2013 Trading Card Consumer Survey. We were happy to hear COMC was represented in the survey and were fortunate to learn how trading card consumers see us and what they expect from their experience with us.
When asked about COMC, consumers most closely associated us with the following phrases:
“Provides opportunity to chase specific players or cards”
“Is exciting”
“Good selection of products”
“Knowledgeable about products and the industry”
We are grateful for this feedback and are honored that you see us this way! We found it particularly interesting that you associate us with an opportunity to chase specific players or cards and thought a bit more why that is. It is true, our platform allows what no one else does:
An enormous selection of items courtesy of our consigners. With over 6 million items and growing, you have a good chance of finding cards of your favorite player or from that set you’re building.
A one-of-a-kind system that allows you to buy now and ship later! Where else can you purchase just the one card you need without having to find a number of other cards just to meet a shipping quota? Instead, you can buy the cards you want, when you want, and have them shipped together at a later time for one flat rate.
Standardized listings and tiered organization which allow you to easily drill down into sets and explore.
Of course, high resolution front and back scans of every single item, so the card you see is the card you get.
Let’s be honest, this is pretty exciting. In order to make sure everyone understands just how different we are, we created an ad that will appear in several magazines, as well as on the web.
With this in mind, we’re giving you a preview of our newest ad (CLICK TO ENLARGE):
How about you? Do you feel the same about COMC as those who took the Mosaiq survey? What is it about COMC that makes it a great place for player collecting and set building for you? Did we miss something with our ad?
We also want your input on where our future ads should go. What magazines, forums or blogs do you read, and where else can we tell people about COMC.com? For years, we’ve relied primarily on “word of mouth”, as our customers told their friends about us and encouraged them to become new customers. And, for that, we’re thankful. Now, as we grow, we know our voice has to grow, too.
Please leave your comments below, and as always, keep up with us on this blog, Facebook, Twitter, and our new Google+ page.
Greetings from the COMC Team. We wanted to take a moment to remind everyone a bit early that next week Monday is a very special day in the USA: Memorial Day. As a national holiday, our doors will be closed on that day and as such:
Customer Service will be closed Monday, May 27th & will reopen Tuesday, May 28th at 8 a.m. PST.
Don’t worry though; we will be back in the full swing of things early Tuesday morning! If you need to contact over the holiday, feel free to contact us via staff@comc.com and one of our Customer Service Agents will get back to you as quickly as we can when we return.
We hope you all have a beautiful holiday if you’re in the states and feel free to celebrate even if you aren’t within the borders. There will be barbecues, parades, and services to attend on that day; so what are your holiday plans? Feel free to leave a comment below and tell us how you will spend your day away from work!
Hey everyone, Moe from COMC here. Over the past week or so, you may have noticed a slight change in our Blog – we’re working on changing our direction a little, trying to generate a little more discussion and dialogue within the community. And, I’m thinking (hoping) this post gets a lot of folks talking…I got one word for you:
Redemptions.
…
…
We’ve all gotten them in a pack of cards, at one point or another. You’re anticipating a big hit, expecting something really awesome and cool as promised on the wrapper and…boom. There it is. Like the blue screen of death (kids, ask your parents) there it is, staring you in the face. A nondescript card with a little bit of text detailing something that could be potentially awesome, with something that needs to be scratched off.
Granted, these days you can go to the card company’s website, get the redemption process started and hope that something comes back to you…in a year. Maybe. And, what are the chances that you’ll get that card they promised? What if that player bails on the company? Or the company decides to go with someone else? Or (as happened to me earlier this year) the player gets cut by the team after his 2nd arrest during training camp?
Sometimes you get lucky…in that you get what’s actually been promised. Sometimes, you just get whatever the card company had laying around as a replacement.
Feel free to share your best/worst redemption stories. Go ahead and name names, point fingers, vent, yell, then tell us what you think would make the redemption process a more positive one for you.
COMC is pleased to announce that we have made a few adjustments to the way you can see cards on the site! When looking at cards in our standard Details view, you may notice that the pictures are a bit larger than they used to be. All the better for our users who love spending a few hours checking out all the new items!
The second change is to our List view. Compared to the past, this view is now centered on the page rather than being stretched all across the page, the pictures are enlarged, and it is much more streamlined. The crispness allows for very easy comparison of prices along the right hand side.
While not every change we make to the site is a big one, we hope these two adjustments will make your experience at COMC.com even easier.
Why Use Different Views:
Details: This is our standard view. You can see a large picture of the card, what the name of the card is, and at what price it is listed. This is the perfect view for the collector who wants to browse and shop through the images on the site.
List: While List is very similar to the Details view, it has one very distinct advantage: all of the cards have their details laid out horizontally. This allows a collector to pick through cards with multiple parallels and variants with ease. Along with that, when you are looking to fill out your sets, this view clearly organizes your search.
Thumb: If you just want to see the cards, this is the view for you. If you know the player card you are looking for, it is really easy to go through these little photos and pick out exactly which card you need to finish your collection.
Text: A view for the hardcore set collectors. Just about every fact you could need is listed about the cards on the site, and comparison of price is a snap. And without pictures, one can very quickly sort through numerous cards from a wide range of sports.
So tell us; Why do you use the different views on the site? Leave us a comment below and let us know. Keep following us on the blog, Facebook, Twitter, and our new Google+ page for more exciting ways to check out collectibles on the site!
This weekend, the roar of engines will be blaring across the nation as two of the biggest races peel from the starting line. We at COMC are taking a moment to highlight some of our cards commemorating races past. Check these beauties out:
In celebration of the upcoming laps, we are hosting a little contest! Just go onto our site, find an item that is Indy 500 or Cocacola 600 related, and tell us in the comments the item number and why that card gets your blood pumping faster than a 600 hundred horse power engine!
Then, this coming Friday, we will pick the user who has best captured the feeling and award them $10 of store credit. It’s fun and easy, and we look forward to hearing great stories about the cards on our site.
Oh, and because we want to know: Who’s going to be watching the races this weekend and who do you think is going to win?!
