Canadian Promotion and Sportscard and Memorabilia Expo

A quick update for our Canadian users.

COMC will be attending the Sportscard and Memorabilia Expo in Mississauga, ON on May 1st, 2nd, & 3rd. We will have free giveaways for everyone who stops by – while supplies last – as well as store credit draws and more giveaways for all registered COMC users.  We will also be accepting drop-off submissions so you can save on the cost of shipping.

In addition, for a limited time, we are offering our Canadian Spring Promotion starting from today until April 2, 2015.  Refer your friends to us, and if you are a new consignor, let us know so we can welcome you aboard!  This great deal is available for batches sent to our Canadian office under the guidelines outlined below:

The Special:

$0.20 per raw standard-sized or tobacco-sized trading or gaming card
All other cards of different sizes will be sorted out and processed separately under either basic (for tall boys) or premium (for graded, encased, booklets, oversized, sports poker chips, coins, or pins)
User Account not required to be funded at the time of shipment (account still required to be funded before cards are uploaded)
Cards in penny sleeves are acceptable
Cards in toploaders and cards requiring condition notes subject to $0.05 handling fee per card
Additional 50¢ upgrade charge is required to list a card for $50 or more
Additional 25¢ charge for cards that are valuable, fragile, or thicker than 3.5mm (138pt) and must be scanned in a toploader
Maximum 5000 cards per household
Minimum 125 cards (or $25.00 batch fee)
Cards will be live within 10 weeks of receipt of shipment
All shipments must be postmarked no later than Thursday April 2nd, 2015

Cleveland or Bust!

Hello COMC Nation! It’s almost here – the 35th annual National Sports Collectors Convention is just around the corner and we’re pretty excited to see as many people as we can during the week. We’ve got a few, last-minute announcements to make before we head to the airport, that we wanted to share with everyone.

We are accepting submissions!

It’s not a big surprise, sure, but we wanted to assure everyone that we will be accepting card submissions in Cleveland, including cards/boxes that qualify for this year’s “Lucky 7″ National Special. We’ll have our computers set up and our team will be able to walk you through the submission process – why carry those boxes of cards around when you can drop them off with us, right?

Free History Points!

With fewer COMC Challenges available, we know it’s been harder for members of the COMC Nation to earn history points – but, if you drop by our booth (#459 in the Corporate Area) and say “Hello!” (Or “Hi!”, or “What’s up?”…we’re flexible), we’ll have a sign up sheet where you can write down your COMC username and earn 1000 points…just for being social. Doesn’t get much easier than that, right?

Suggested List Prices

This has been such a hot button topic for awhile now…the COMC Suggested List Price Feature. Tim first introduced it at the Industry Summit in Las Vegas, last March.

We’re ready to introduce a beta version of the Suggested List Pricing Feature in time for the National show, and we’ll be giving demonstrations of how this great, new feature will work for our users. Be sure to drop by and see how we’re ready to shape the future of the hobby.

Note: As of Monday afternoon, Tim started running the code that activates the SLP feature, and some of our users will notice that the asking prices on some of their cards have been deleted, as a result. We apologize for any inconvenience in this.

Shift in Customer Service Capacity

Since Steve and Moe are going to Cleveland this year, we’re leaving Norbert to occupy the COMC Customer Service office by himself for 4 days. We’re pretty confident that Norbert is up to the challenge, but if you get our voice mail or a slower than usual response to your email, please be patient – For a few days, Norbert’s going to be busier than a 1-eyed cat watching 2 mouse holes.

Hello COMC Nation! We don’t know about you, but we’re getting pretty excited about the upcoming National Sports Collectors Convention in Cleveland. We’re getting everything ready for this trip and we’re looking forward to meeting and talking to as many people as we can. Just to let you know, we’re going to be at Booth #459 in the “Corporate Area”, so be sure to drop by and say hello.

In years past, Tim’s made the time to sit down and speak to people, one-on-one. We wanted to let you know that if you wish to schedule a meeting with our fearless leader, please send an email to timewithtim@comc.com.

We’ll be scheduling meetings at the top of each hour, except noon (we love talking to folks, but lunch is nice, too) on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Meetings will be slated for approximately 30 minutes, give or take depending on the topics.

If you want to talk about COMC, the hobby in general, or anything else that’s on your mind, please send us an email with the topics you wish to discuss, and 2-3 possible meeting times that work best for you.  We ask that you have your requests in no later than Thursday, July 24th – after that we’ll get back to you with your scheduled “Time with Tim”.

COMC is heading to some Card Shows this weekend!

Hello COMC Nation! We just wanted to let you know that COMC representatives will be attending card shows this weekend!

Those of you in Northern California can drop by and talk to the head of our Shipping team, Geoff Holland, at the show in the Serramonte Center in Daly City, CA. Geoff says you can give him a call on Saturday, if you’re having trouble tracking him down – his number is 1-425-260-8025.

Folks in the Portland area can drop by and say “Hi!” to the head of our Processing team, Jim Osborn, at the COMC table at the show in Mall 205. Jim will be there on Saturday only, but he didn’t give us his phone number – but, he’s tall and it’s easy to find him in a crowd!

Geoff and Jim will be accepting submissions for COMC, so you can drop your cards off and save a little bit on those shipping charges.

Industry Summit 2014 – Come See Us!

Every March sees one of the most exciting times in the sports collectible hobby – no, not “March Madness” (even though that’s a lot of fun) – we’re talking about the Industry Summit!

We’ll be in Las Vegas from March 16th to 19th!  It will be four days where some of the biggest names in the sports card industry get together and discuss both the current state of the hobby and work together to determine its future.

Drop By Our Booth

Like last year, we’ll be taking submissions at our booth.  We’re accepting both Basic and Premium submissions.  The clock for Premium Submissions will begin ticking Thursday, 3/20 when we get back. By dropping cards with us, you’ll be able to save money on your shipping costs, as we’ll be transporting the cards back to Redmond for you.  Just a reminder, we ask that any submissions come without toploaders or cardsaver holders, and any screwdown or magnetic cases will be processed as Premium.  Make sure to prepare your submissions in advance of the Summit by using Submit Items on the Seller Menu on your dashboard.

Anyone with a store front who is interested in being one of our Drop-Off/Pick-Up/Kiosk Locations and drops off a business card will be entered into a raffle.

We’ll also have giveaways, so come see us!

We’ll be demoing our new Drop-Off iPhone app!  This will make it easier than ever to submit your cards.

Unlock Another Special Offer in time for Black Friday:

By taking advantage of our One Month Processing or our Fall Promotion Special, consigners with 200 or more cards can designate 20% of their submission to our 2-Week Processing at the One Month Processing Rate. This will allow sellers to segregate cards they want on the site for sale in time for Black Friday November 29, 2013.   Simply label 20% of your submission as 2-Week Processing and the remaining 80% as One Month or Canadian Fall Promotion.   Submissions of 2-week processing on its own will be processed as 2-Week processing at it’s regular price of $0.35 per regular sized item.   Cards must arrive (ie. not postmarked) before 11:00am November 14, 2013 at our Canadian Office to allow us to process them before Black Friday.
