  1. Hopefully COMC can keep attracting customers to sustain inventory growth. We don’t want to be offering 5 million cards to the same amount of customers we offered 3 million to.

Also, still hoping for an easier platform to buy and sell ports – having to email COMC staff and wait for responses seems a bit too clunky. Additionally, still wishing to be able to sort by jersey, auto, etc. I think we would all see a big increase in sales. Sorting by a certain player’s highest value cards is the only way to do it. Scanning through a dozen pages isn’t that practical.

  2. I agree with Joto.

My concern also is with the number of cards available for sale and the number potential buyers. I also think you are going to see an increase in the number of ports for sale. I see that already which is a good thing but an easier port buying and selling process in the future may help.

That being said, you guys at COMC have been great. You processed a few of batches ahead of schedule which is huge when you want to move cards quickly and I also sold my port recently and was very happy.

  3. As a new buyer, I’ve been very pleased with COMC. I’ve spent over $500 on everything from New hockey to old baseball. This is my new go to site for cards. There are still some big holes inventory wise. Keep finding those old minor league sets and don’t be afraid to list your premium vintage cards.

  4. I agree 110% with Joto. I started moving more and more stuff from Ebay to COMC last year, but cards aren’t moving on COMC . You go to check pricing and notice 20 other cards all priced below what it cost to list the card and understand why.

COMC needs to make getting new buyers to the site a top priority. The site experience is awesome but when I mention the site to other collectors they have never even heard of the site. Everyone is so sick of Ebay and Sportlots interface is aweful the opportunity it there for COMC to be a huge force for buyers and sellers.

  5. I think there are few ways of getting better selling for all sellers… I am mainly a buyer, I live in Germany.

Many people there do really like the site, the way of price, handling and so on… I like to buy here many many more as @ebay etc… But there are a few problems i think also….

    - People outside USA are not really able to list their cards. It might be a big advantage of a platform to be Worldwide in Selling/Offering. Have you thought about getting persons in other continents to manage the job of what you are doing for their area? I know it sounds crazy, but here are many sellers and collectors who would have great additions to the site, but are afraid of sending cards a long way to USA and perhaps not selling them…. maybe there is someone needed to put these up for a couple of countries or sth. like that! I’m sure you would find persons, including me, adding scans and prepare shippings on sold cards for some cents for any card sold…

    - International Bulk Option shows higher prices than normal Shipping? I would gladly take the Bulk, cause the Sleeves never fit in any Folders or so. they are too big…. but if i take Bulk Shipping is higher….So why don’t change the Bulk option or get sleeves that fit?

    - there is no was to add Item to cart when you are in overview…you always have to click up the pictured card and than push the button add to cart… that might be easy to change…

    - You always have to add money to the site to know if the seller sells for your price – that is a bit of problem, i really think. For example:

    - There is a nice Michael Jordan Star Power Supreme up here….but a credit of 500$ added to my account is not available on my bank account for about a week.
It would be nice to know if perhaps 300$ would last for the seller to give the card away, than add money….
Perhaps there is the chance to add the option of a “nonbinding offer”, where you can easily see if what you like to pay is ok for the seller without getting problems with money missing on bankaccount cause of long terms, so the buyer can see the seller i selling, adding the amount of money needed and thats it…no waisted credits and especially no unused money here, while being over the limit on the bank account…

    - My last point might be the bigest thing missing – what about Buyers adding wantlists? Sellers can easily check wantlists (perhaps with prices the buyer has available for each card?) when they are doing breaks or so by sets and can first list the cards they know someone needs – I’m sure many cards needed by someone are just not up, because sellers have too much to list…

Hope my 2 Cents are appreciated and fine with the things discussed here

Regardy and keep on that good work you are doing right now, remember these are only improvements to a really really nice and good site!

    • Chris_89, Thanks for the input. It is good to hear what people from around the world think of the site. Here are my thoughts.

      – People selling from outside the USA: We are investigating setting up a warehouse in Canada. This will be our first expansion outside the USA. We hope to do that in the next couple years. Not sure how long it will take to get to Europe.

      – International Bulk Shipping: I would like to know more about the sleeves that don’t fit. We are considering an international shipping special now that the Canadian postal strike is over. Keep an eye on the blog for updates.

      – Add to cart from the search/overview page: I like that idea. Not sure how soon we will be able to implement it, but I will get that on our feature request list.

      – Needing money to make offers: LOL… We are pioneering that feature with a new Port Sale offer feature we will be releasing tomorrow. Once we get some feedback, we expect to roll something like this out for more expensive cards.

      – Buyer wantlists: This is a feature that we are building. There are a few things that we need to finish building first, but we expect to have this within a year (hopefully sooner).

Awesome feedback. Thanks for taking the time to write this up!

  6. I’ve got card #6000000 in my account right now if you want it. Only 6.000000 dollars.

I think it’s wonderful that not only did you process an additional 1 million cards in record time, but you also improved the site to address at least 2 of the user’s top concerns since card #5000000 was processed.

People wanted an easy port sale feature and they now have it.

People wanted an increased customer base, and you’re now cross-posting cards to Amazon, potentially adding millions of new customers.

Some features I would love to see:

    * The ability to tag players with Hall of Fame status, All Star status, major awards won, teams played on, etc.

    * The ability to tag sets / cards as autographed or memorabilia cards.

    * The ability to filter searches by several factors. For instance Yankees memorabilia cards over $10 book value that are at least 50% off book value.

One feature I would really like to see:

The ability for a seller to subdivide their port into several smaller ports. The port could then be sold as a bulk lot using the port sale feature. It could also be subjected to different auto accept percentages than other cards.

That way, if someone wants to accept 50% offers on basketball cards but only accept 10% offers on baseball cards, they could do so. Or if they would sell their hockey for 10% of book, but only as a bulk lot, they could also do so.

I’m very happy with COMC and all of the positive improvements that you are continually making. Good luck!

    • Awesome!!! I just purchased #6000000 from you. Thank you for the writeup. We have actually started working on many of the features you have requested. We will see how many we can have live on the site before #7000000 goes live.
